Then, I will praise God’s name with singing, and I will honor him with thanksgiving. Psalms 69:30 (NLT)
What are you thanking God for?
I am grateful that God sees me. He is the creator of the universe, and despite the infinite number of things he could be worried about, he still sees and is concerned about me. This is why I sing songs of thanksgiving! Every Sunday I am home and do not have a game or some ridiculous travel (ya’ll know!) you can find me singing at my church, in the pews, or on the praise team. Arms raised in surrender, fully grateful for each blessing in my life. I am also thankful for the tests because they produce the fruit. This type of praise is called Todah (tow-da).
… singing a song of thanksgiving and telling of all your wonders.
Todah is similar to Yadah (ya-da): What we feel inside causes the physical or external reaction of raising our hands. The difference is what produces the emotion. Todah means Thanksgiving or gratitude and is associated with an extension of the hand. Yesterday, a Yadah Praise came from adoring God for who he is. Today, your Todah Praise comes from what God had done!
As you reflect on all of the things God has done in your life and the lives of people around you, begin to lift your hand and praise him. This is your Todah Praise!
Let us come to him with thanksgiving. Let us sing psalms of praise to him. Psalms 95:2 (NLT)
